The problem

MOT equipment needs calibration, certificates have expiry dates, and DVSA expects the station to know what's in use and what's due. Most stations keep this in a spreadsheet or folder of PDFs — easy to lose track of when something is overdue.

How MOT Lens handles it

  • Equipment register — every item, its status, and its history.
  • Calibration records — dates, certificates, next-due visibility.
  • Due-date alerts — know what's coming up before it's overdue.
  • Retire/reactivate — manage lifecycle without deleting history.
  • Connected to site reviews — equipment evidence feeds into your broader site record.

Important

MOT Lens records are your management evidence. Official calibration certificates come from your calibration provider.

Example workflow

  1. Add equipment to the register with its calibration details.
  2. MOT Lens shows what's due soon on the control centre.
  3. When calibration happens, record the new certificate and date.
  4. If equipment is taken out of service, retire it — history remains.

Who this is for

  • Site managers responsible for equipment compliance
  • AEs reviewing site evidence
  • Anyone preparing for a DVSA visit
